JOE JOHNSON - HEAD COACH
I grew up in the cold lands of northern Minnesota where I fell in love with skiing and all things outdoors. I was on my local freeski team for five years and after graduating high school began coaching for the team. This was a highly rewarding job that kept me engaged in the sport of skiing as well as cultivated my passion for teaching and coaching. I coached in Minnesota for seven seasons before making the move out west in search of taller hills, deeper snow, and a longer ski season.
I came to the Mt Hood area in 2017 working as head freeski coach for a local team where I worked for 8 seasons building passion, grit, and integrity in the youth ski scene. I fell in love with the Mt Hood ski community and have made lifelong friends and memories.
I am grateful to be joining forces with (We Are Camp, Windells, WyEast) to share my love for the sport of skiing with the community here. I intend to build lifelong skiers and love for the sport with all who I work with here at camp, as well as honor and teach the values of passion, grit, integrity, and gratitude.
NICCOLO NOLFI - COACH
My goal is to teach people to create their own style and do what they like regardless of competing on a course or just riding around on groomers.
Hi my name is Niccolo, I am a type one diabetic from Portland, Oregon. Skiing has been one of the best parts of my life. I’m excited that I was given this opportunity to coach the weekend program now that it has returned. I have had the chance to also be in this program in previous years so understanding from the lens’s of the athletes will bring some extra benefits. Freestyle skiing has been a huge part of my life and coaching is something I take pride in. It’s not just a fun way to teach people cool and amazing tricks, but a way to teach people to create their own style and do what they like regardless of competing on a course or just riding around on groomers. I’m excited to make a bigger freestyle community at Mt. Hood as well. I can’t wait to have some fun and share these amazing mountains with all of you.
