Session 6 Video Recaps!

Check out the recap videos from session 6!

Six down, one to go, and still riding down to the parking lot. What a summer it’s been. Session 6 couldn’t have been any better. We had a ton of fun riding the park and sunny skies everyday.

The Surface team dropped in at Windells for skiing, skating, games, and even tie dying.

Session 6 Skate… so much skating.

Burton US Open 2011

Vermont is home to the O.G. (Original Gangster) of snowboarding contests. The 29th annual Burton US Open came to a close this week in Stratton, VT after yet another memorable competition series.

Athletes from all over the world were greeted by the rain and slush of an East Coast winter. Sopping wet spectators watched as their favorite competitors and Windells coaches threw down, despite the gloomy conditions. Thanks to all those who came out and showed their support!

Denver Big Air

DENVER BIG AIR DROPIN

This was what it looked like atop the scaffolding at the Denver Big Air. Windells Academy Student Easton Gilman was one of the 10 riders from the US to be invited to compete on January 26th. Easton was able to make it through the qualifying rounds and advance to finals.

Easton Gilman Double Rodeo

Finals consisted of each rider getting 3 hits. Here’s Eastons first, a backside double rodeo 900. Not bad for being 16.

Easton Gilman Monitor

Easton on the monitor spinning a FS720 and to the left getting advice from another rider and Academy coach Miah Wheeler.

Easton Gilman FS10

Eastons final trick was a FS10, he didn’t quite get it clean but the TV cameras didn’t seem to mind! Easton ended up finishing the event in 7th place with Rocco Van Straten in 1st, Zak Stone in 2nd and Michael Macho in 3rd.

Dylan Thompson – Full Summer Part

Dylan Thompson was shredding Windells park all summer long! It really was a pleasure to have him around all summer… he is a dang good rider! Check out the edit of Dylan… See you next summer!

Backcountry at Night

The Burn Units crew sent this over and we wanted to share with everyone!  Backcountry at night is SWEET!

From Burn:

“This planet is alive. If only we could know what it knows, see what it sees. Sometimes you feel like it’s trying to tell you something, showing you where to look, how to see. Lighting up the darkness ahead, illuminating your soul.”

Burn is honoured and excited to present ‘Alive’, featuring The Burn Units, a rider-led initiative headed by the legendary Austrian snowboarder Gigi Rüf, star of many a Pirate Movie Production and hands-down one of the most stylish riders on the planet. In ‘Alive’ Gigi is joined by fellow Burn Units riders Norwegian freestyle prodigy Ståle Sandbech and ultra-smooth French sensation Arthur Longo.
