Windells at the 30th annual Burton US Open

The Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships turned “29 again” this winter. Superhumans Elena Hight, Jamie Anderson, and former campers Shaun White and Louie Vito topped the podiums while common folk grazed for free stuff at the sponsor tents. Method Man and Redman played a concert for VIP Open goers and, as always, too much fun was had.

ThrowBack Brochure

I was digging through some old files and came across the 2002 addition of Windells Brochure.   Inside there were pictures and interviews with some of the top talent in snowboarding today, most notably – SHAUN WHITE.  Plus a lot of old school campus and park pictures.  Here are some of my favorite pages!

Louie Vito going to Vancouver

vito

It is now official. Louie Vito is a member of the United States Snowboarding halfpipe team for the upcoming Olympic games in Vancouver.

The announcement came during a ceremony following the final U.S. Grand Prix event at Park City, Utah.

“We tried to work it out mathematically and it looked like he had it, but you just never know because coach’s discretion goes into the decision,” said Louie’s father Lou on Sunday by phone from Utah. “Seeing him come out with his Olympic uniform on, we could finally rest easy. It’s finally over.”

The Olympic halfpipe competition is set for Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Cypress Mountain, which sits on the outskirts of Vancouver.

Mammoth Grand Prix

Tim Windell was live and in person at the most recent Grand Prix that went down this last weekend at Mammoth Mountain.  He was on site tossing out tons a free stickers and our New Camp DVD’s.  If you did not get a chance to visit Tim at the Grand Prix, He is on his way to the DEW TOUR in UTAH.

After the Grand Prix concluded, Tim Windell immediately hit me up and went on and on about how proud he is of how well past campers competed in the Superpipe.  The Top Five Riders have spent many seasons at Windells learning and perfecting new tricks during the summer and then take what they have learned and implement it during the competitive season. It is the perfect formula to success that all Windells Alumni use and the pay off shows!

Can’t Wait For Vancouver – Good Luck Windells Alumni.
