Take me back Tuesday: Bonfire Pipe 2 Pipe on hill

Bonfire Pipe 2 Pipe is one of the funnest days of the summer on Mount Hood. Our diggers work with the Bonfire/Salomon crew to build a really unique set up, tents are put up, Bonfire team riders take positions in the judges’ tent, hotdogs are put on the grill, and everyone at Mount Hood comes together to ride, hang out, and enjoy the event. This summer marked the 14th year of the event–that’s a long history of boarding, skating, and having fun! Continue reading →

Stevie Bell returns to camp Session 4 2012!

So, alright, summer is a ways away. Heck, most areas of North America are still waiting for their first real big snowstorms to get the resorts 100% open. But, our parents have always told us to plan ahead and it’s hard not to daydream a little about 60 degree days on hill, tons of sunshine, and a slushy, yet perfectly groomed park. Summer snowboarding is the best.

Even more than that, we’re getting psyched about summer 2012 because we just announced our Snowboard Crew Sessions for the year! Each session, a unique crew of pro riders is taking over camp for the week, bringing their individual personalities and riding styles to Mount Hood for 8 days of sliding on snow, skating the Concrete Jungle, playing games, hanging out with campers, and having FUN!

For the first time ever this early, you can check out who’s coming to camp and pick your session based on which riders you’d like to ride with and meet!

We are so excited to have the most fun, awesome, friendly, super talented snowboarders at camp next summer, we wanted to help you get to know each rider a little better. Continue reading →

Saga Chocolate Milk Race – Session 4

The Saga chocolate milk race took place once again Session 4. The race all comes down to dedication. You really have to dig deep when it comes to the foot race in the snow, and then dig real deep when it comes to the milk chug! It is always funny to watch, and is great when you see the dedication pay off for the campers. Check out some visuals below to see what I mean.

Session 4 Snowboard Recap

After minutes of deliberation, a panel of professionals have decided that this is a switch back seven nose. We’re not totally sure, but we’re going with that.

Throughout the ages, there have been many foursomes that have defined sensibilities, innovated trends, and affected generations. In the sixties, The Beatles revolutionized rock music. In the eighties, Dr. Peter Venkham and the other Ghostbusters saved a legion of citizens from getting slimed. Flash forward to 2011, and it’s a fair comparison to say that Nick Visconti, Curtis Woodman, Jason Robinson, and Stevie Bell combined their collective radness and gave campers at Windells the best summer snowboard experience they could ever want.

The group may seem, at first, to be an unexpected foursome, but during Session 4, their unique personalities and boarding styles combined seamlessly, creating a powerhouse of fun. From morning to night, the guys were all over the place, harnessing the same energy of a whole cabin of campers. Tons of park laps, hours and hours spent in the Concrete Jungle and BOB, backflip clinics on hill, powerslide contests off hill, Bonfire Pipe 2 Pipe, and the biggest, most intense, game of knock out you have ever seen (Stevie could probably play defense in the NBA). But don’t take it from us, here’s what the crew had to say. Continue reading →

Backflip Clinic with Jason Robinson, Curtis Woodman, and Stevie Bell!

On the last day of Session 4, Mt. Hood received ideal backflipping conditions.  With the help of Stevie Bell, Jason Robinson and Curtis Woodman, a few campers got the opportunity to learn how to backflip for their very first time.

Atmosphere Skate Race speeds down the hill in Session 4

The Atmosphere Skate Race Session 4 had its fair share of twists, turns, and spills (but everyone was ok, of course). Enzo, Bishop, Jimmy, and the rest of the Atmosphere Crew set up a snake course of epic proportions this session that was fun and challenging. Lucky campers won Atmosphere goods, including a fresh skateboard! Check out photos by Drew Smalley.

Rome Thrasher Night Session 4

Rome thrasher night took place again this session at Windells, showing why it is so many campers’ favorite night activity. This event draws a lot of campers and releases the wild side in these kids.

The night starts of with a huge game of man h,unt with Rome riders, staff and other pros hunting the kids down. Once the kids are caught, they get a friendly washable marker tattoo drawn on them and their name crossed off the list. Once it is narrowed down to about twenty kids the real contest starts: all the kids are broken up into a few heats for an air guitar competition. Two kids from each heat are chosen by the group and go on to the finals. This is where it gets crazy! Kids strum their little hearts out and head bang like there is no tomorrow. The campers will be running in circles while laying down, ripping off shirts, and performing air ninja kicks in the final. In the end only one camper walks away with the big check for a brand new 2012 Rome Artifact.
