ThrowBack Brochure

I was digging through some old files and came across the 2002 addition of Windells Brochure.   Inside there were pictures and interviews with some of the top talent in snowboarding today, most notably – SHAUN WHITE.  Plus a lot of old school campus and park pictures.  Here are some of my favorite pages!

Windells staff get gnarly at Bonfire Pipe 2 Pipe

Bonfire’s first Pipe 2 Pipe went down a few days ago here at Windells and even though a little bit of fog rolled in during the contest, Windells staff emerged from the clouds to lay down bangers and take both first and third for the snowboarding portion of the day. Scott Hoffman, one of the diggers, took home first place and 500 bucks and Windells veteran, Jeremiah Paquette landed himself in third place and grabbed 100 bucks.

Scott Hoffman took first and 500 bucks on hill with some jib trickery

Windells: You just won five hundred bucks–what are your plans for said money?
Scotty: I am going to save my money for a snowmobile.

Windells: So it was a pretty good day, overall?

It was really fun. Everybody was having a lot of fun and basically it was the funnest day of my life. The set up was really fun, it was like a down flat rail and a down-flat-down rail and I gapped it and a down rail. All the rails were really smooth. It was basically the best thing I could have asked for. [And] we sang the national anthem, me and Kyle [Martola], yesterday morning when we were grooming the park.

Windells: So it would be like a baseball game?
Scotty: Exactly.

Windells: So you think that might have given you the extra edge in the competition?
Scotty: Uh huh. Straight American.

Jeremiah (on right) gets by with a little help from his friends.

Windells: I hear this is your first cash money victory.

Jeremiah: It is. Big Money. I’ve always won weird things like tshirts and hats, stickers, [but] always looking out for the money. It took about 13 years in the making in my snowboarding career. We pulled through in the end.

Windells: What was the height of your trickery in the comp?

Jeremiah: Probably the 5050 noseblunt slide on the down-flat-down rail.

Windells: How long before you go pro?

Tentatively, it’s scheduled for the ’13-’14 season, so I got a couple more years. [I'm] working on some moves, but I think I’ll get there.

The ball is rolling out of control

It has been a very eventful few weeks here at the Windells campus.  First off, about every facility on campus has received a face lift.  Be it new ceilings or tearing up old carpeting, the cabins and meeting places are plush.  And speaking of face lifts, our private indoor skatepark “Bob” has been re-designed and the shred level has increased roughly 15 horsepower.  We will have a Bob update including pictures in the next day or so.

Our BMX trails have been getting some serious hours dug into them.  If your new to the BMX scene or think you might like to try it out, Windells is the place for you.  We have lines ranging from beginner to expert and the goal is to have serious “white knuckle” sets by mid summer.  Shout out to Lil Jon

These are our new rails KAB built specifically for our terrain park.  They showed up yesterday and already have people talking.  Word on the street is the metal used is a special blend that will keep the rails fast all season long.  Can’t wait to see what our park crew has in store for these monstrosities.  New Rails + Private tow rope = Endless opportunities

Jamie and company have been work really hard on concrete obstacles all over the Windells campus.  They are building about one section a week and at this rate we will not have to cut grass any more.  Rumors have it that a new box jump and hubba ledges are in the designing stages.  Can’t wait for this summer to start…
