Summer 2011 has officially begun and Session 1 is in the books! Mother Nature has been generous this winter and we’ve got more snow than we know what to do with. Combine that with around a dozen new features and you’ve got an amazing place to ride!
Yobeat dropped in on session one and brought the likes of Forest Bailey, Will Bateman, Nial Romanek, and Johnny Lazz to rip it up! Enjoy the snowboard edit!
On the ski side of things, we have some awesome coaches out here, and some hot camper action session 1. They wasted no time throwing down!
The LIFEBLOOD team rolled through campus and skated for a couple days in the Concrete Jungle. Check out the video!
The skate campers had a good time visiting some of Oregon’s awesome parks, and of course, also ripped up our private park as well.
Forrest Bailey, Nial Romanek, and Will Bateman take a lap from Palmer, through Windells, through Public park and to the Mile lift. It’s over 2 miles!!! That is pretty darn good for summer shredding!
Killington, VT set the stage for the second stop of this year’s Winter Dew Tour. At this competition Windells Academy student, Nick Goepper was the “wild card” who showcased his skills against the industry’s top skiers and landed the 3rd place podium for men’s freeski slope finals.
Bobby Brown takes 1st,Elias Ambuhl in 2nd and Goepper takes 3rd!
Windells Academy student Nick Goepper visited Mount Snow this week to help out with the Skills Enhancement Camp, presented by Mount Snow, Windells Academy, and the Matterhorn Inn. Mount Snow’s Grom Fest was a huge success and Nick was there to give a helping hand. The event was sponsored by Dalbello Ski Boots, Marker, Smith Optics, and two of Nick Goepper’s own sponsors, Volkl and Under Armour. “It’s very cool to be able to inspire and give back. Nick looks so big, but he’s really not so much older than some of them!” said David Currier of Smith Optics. High fives all around to the Groms for flying down the mountain, Nick Goepper for giving some expert tips, and the sponsors for making the event a success!
With world class training facilities and a top notch education program it is no wonder that Windells Academy is getting the attention of students from all around the globe. This semester, we had a trial student join us from Quebec City. Alex Beaulieu-Marchand, 16 shares his experiences with the Academy.
Campers: you were able to try a number of our Full Tilt’s at Dex’s Demo, this past summer, now here is your chance to win a pair of your own. Details Below:
SHOW US YOUR BOOTS!
Full Tilt Ski Boot Giveaway
“I thought once I ran out of these boots I would have to retire from skiing.”- Seth Morrison
Full Tilt’s commitment to keeping the Original 3-Piece design alive has been inspired by the passionate people skiing them for all these years. With over 30,000 views of the already 200+ submissions in two weeks, the “Show us Your Boots!” online contest is an opportunity for these skiers to virally share their real-life inspiring stories & pics about keeping their own pair of original 3-piece boots alive, just like pro skier Seth Morrison. Seth has been riding the same boot design for over 21 years and they seem to work well for him. For everyone else that doesn’t own a pair, they can just explain why their current boots aren’t working and why they deserve a new pair of Full Tilts.
Each month’s most inspiring, convincing & more often than not hilarious submission wins a new pair of Full Tilt Ski Boots of their choice & also appears in web ads re-promoting the contest. September’s winner was Stephan “Chai” Chaikovsky of Denver who was so desperate for some new boots he created one on his foot with some markers! The question remains, who will win the next pair? Will it be the guy with the Full Tilt logo tattooed on his shoulder or the kid who’s dog pooped in his boots, or someone else?
Another Windells Summer Edit featuring Professional Ski Coach: Liam Downey. He spends his summers at camp dropping his knowledge of skiing to campers but when he is not skiing the warm slopes of Mt Hood, he spends his time filming with Level One. See more of Liam in this year’s flick, Eye Trip.
Tosh Peters has been spending is summers skiing Hood & Windells since the begining of Ninthward. He still claims his spot on their pro team! This most recent summer, Windells was excited to add him to the roster of coaches. Perfect fit for our crew.
We love watching summer Hood Edits and attending movie premieres during this time of the year! It stokes us out and pumps us up for the Winters at Windells!
Nearing the end of his second consecutive summer coaching at Windells, Stepp unfortunately broke his leg. Everyone knows that injury comes with the sport, especially at the level the Steve is at. Fortunately for all of you, he was able to stack a bunch of footy to bring you two separate edits. Check them out!
Dakine and Windells once again collaborated on a Camper Tee and This year is by far my favorite in HISTORY! The truck load arrived the other day and they are stored away, waiting to be tossed out to all Windells Summer 2010 Campers! We asked some of the ACADEMY Girls to try em on for the photo shoot! Let us know what you THINK! Thanks Dakine and Scotty C!
