Take me back Tuesday: Technine Team Shoot Out autographs

During Session 7 last summer, the Technine Team was at camp, and while that is awesome in itself, things were even more exciting when the T9 crew rolled into camp, because they had just been named the winner’s of the 2011 Transworld Team Shoot Out. Continue reading →

Dylan Thompson full part from “Familia 2″

Our friends over at Technine and FODT Productions and MFM and Fam just released “Familia 2″ for download on iTunes, and to let everyone know, they posted Dylan Thompson’s full part on Transworld. Dylan’s got ridiculous style and a heavy bag of tricks and is one of our favorite people. He spends all summer hanging out at camp dropping hams. Check out his full part above and the feature on TransworldSnowboarding, and download “Familia 2″ on iTunes!

On the road with Dylan Thompson

Here at Windells, we’re lucky to be able to meet and hang out with some of the best snowboarders, skiers, and skateboarders in the world. Each summer, some amazing riders visit Mount Hood and spend time at camp, shredding the on hill park and skating the Concrete Jungle. Some of guys and girls that come to camp become good friends, and keep coming back year after year. But, what do these talented guys and gals do when summer is over? Well, we are stoked that some of the members of the Windells family are inviting us along for the ride this winter, by sending us updates of the adventures that go down while they’re traveling, filming, competing, shredding with their friends, and having tons of fun this winter.

Dylan Thompson is an Oregon local. Dylan’s from Hood River and has ridden at Windells for year. He’s always been a staple in the Windells park. The last two years, he has hosted a session at camp with the Technine Team and we’ve gotten to know this awesome guy even better. He is a little shy when you first meet him, but there’s nothing quiet about his ability on a snowboard. This year, Dylan completely annihilated the rail line in the park. You’ve probably seen some of the footage in our videos. In addition to his on hill skills, Dylan’s always down for fun at camp. He competed in the Second Annual Technine Doughnut Eating Challenge with the campers, consuming his weight in powdered sugar. Dylan’s awesome, so we wanted to see what he has been up to since camp ended. Judging by the photos of Dylan at premieres, contests, and with giant contest IOU checks in his hands, he’s been busy. Here’s the first installment of On the road…with Dylan Thompson. Continue reading →

Hot Dawgz & Other Things

This past Saturday, the 8th annual Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails awakened the snowboarding scene in Big Bear California. The sun was shining. The features were out of control. It was too good to be true. During Snowboarder Mag’s live webcast, riders Zak Hale and Melissa Evans said it was the best rail jam set up they had ever seen. Competitors and spectators would agree; Bear never fails to make each year better than the last.

Whether they made it to the finals or not, the riders on Saturday were all worthy of medals, trophies, and high fives. Windells snowboard coach, and all around stud, Dylan Dragotta was nothing short of amazing. Everyone was throwing down like they hadn’t missed a day of riding since April. Dylan Alito, who was flipping on and off every feature, was undoubtedly a crowd favorite. As well as our friends Nick Visconti, Dylan Thompson, Jamie Madrid, and Andrew Brewer. Those guys and gals have definitely been eating their Wheaties.

The lucky winners of HDHR walked away with some serious cash, and it was well deserved. For the ladies, local Bear rider Melissa Evans took home the grand prize of $1,000. For the gentlemen, Jesse Paul took 3rd, Brandon Hobush walked away with 2nd place, and Ryan Paul won it all taking 1st place and $10,000. Congrats to all the riders. It was definitely a tough day to be a judge.

You can check out Alito, Hobush, and all of the other Ammo team competitors below. Thanks to our friends at Thirtytwo for the recap. Happy watching everyone, if you weren’t hyped for the winter, you better be after this!

The Technine Doughnut Eating Challenge returns!

One of the best days of summer, the Second Annual Technine Doughnut Eating Challenege, went down in Session 7. Last year, the competition ended in a sugary storm, and this year, there were more doughnuts and more powdered sugar.

Technine team riders, Derek Dennison, Dylan Thompson, Andrew Brewer, and the T9 Prospects, Zander Blackmon, Ben Bilodeau, and Brady Larson hosted the event. Dylan event competed, almost getting all of the doughnuts down before the powdered sugar started flying. Continue reading →

Session 7 Snowboard Recap

Andrew Brewer launches the spine with a picturesque nosegrab.

It’s official: 2011 summer snowboard camp has come to an end. The towropes have stopped, the rails have been taken down, and everyone’s boots will finally be given the chance to dry out. It’s always sad to see the season go, but lucky for everyone at Windells, Session 7 was one of the best summer finales that we could have asked for. The weather was super sunny and there was tons of snow, so it was perfect both on hill and in the Concrete Jungle. Campers, visiting riders, and staff spent every moment shredding, making sure to squeeze the most fun out of the session before it was over. Continue reading →

Session 3 snowboard recap

Tucker Speer sends one into the air bag in front of stoked campers.

Session 3 has finished at Windells Snowboard Camp and it was a whirlwind of a week. Mother Nature threw some almost-wintery weather at Mount Hood early in the session, but luckily campers and coaches were armed with tons of excitement and extra layers, so they could enjoy the Windells park. Good thing, because the park is still over a mile long and stacked top to bottom with a snake run, multiple hips, four rail lines in two different areas, tons of jump, quarterpipes, wallrides, and a special creeper tube.  The sunny and sick days returned later in the week and there’s more snow than we’ve seen in years, meaning the Windells park is definitely the place to be for summer shredding.
