Summer’s more than halfway over and at Windells, we’re trying to figure out where the time has gone (it probably has something to do with all of the snowboarding and skating we’ve been doing the last two months). It’s sunny out, there’s tons of snow, and each week the park keeps getting better and better. Session 5 just came to a close, and if you missed it, here’s what went down. [Read more...]

Each session Atmosphere puts on a skateboard race for campers. The course runs from BOB, weaving through the Concrete Jungle and ending behind Dex’s shop. Campers go head to head in the race and win sweet prizes from Atmosphere. It’s always a really fun event to participate in or watch. Check out these photos from the Session 2 Atmosphere Skate Race. Session 1 recap – snowboarding

Chris Hagerty came all the way to Hood, via Colorado, to start of his summer shred with this back five stale.

Summer has officially begun at Mount Hood. The jumps are salted, the towropes are turning, and campers are strapping in and learning new tricks. Session 1 just wrapped at Windells and it was a seriously sick start to the season. The mountain is completely white, with over 100 inches of snow more than usual, and the Windells Diggers have crafted one of their best parks ever: two separate jib areas and all of the jumps, hips, and quarters that your summer-shredding heart could desire. Creature Skateboards’ Willis Kimbel on ESPN.com

Willis Kimble (right) on the Bonfire Pipe 2 Pipe skate podium. 2010.

If you spend any time in the Concrete Jungle at Windells, you’re bound to see a tall, lanky guy in a Jivaro hat cruising high-speed around the park, following lines you hadn’t even noticed, doing tricks you hadn’t even thought of. That guy, who regularly tears apart the concrete at camp, is Creature Skateboards’ Willis Kimble, a Portland-local whose fluid and technical skating has been causing double-takes at camp over the last few years.

Willis was just featured on ESPN.com’s Amateur Hour, where he explained why he prefers to live and skate in Portland instead down in SoCal, and gives one of his favorite skateparks in Oregon (thanks Jamie and crew!) some love. Check it out here.

Your Favorite Pros at Windells… Thrasher, Creature, Santa Cruz, Habitat and Anti Hero.

If you want to see some of the best skateboarders in the world in person, come check out Windells Camp.

In the last week there have been a ton of big named skaters coming through Windells camp. From the Thrasher crew to the Anti Hero team, the Concrete Jungle and Bob has been getting torn up by some of your favorite pros. They drove right through Portland to come straight to Windells to skate. Here are some poeple that have been skating at Windells the past few days: Josh Borden, Jason Jessee, Zarosh Eggelston, Little Cody, Dan Drehoble, Peter Watkins, David Gravette, Willis Kimble, Peter Gunn, Jeremy Tuffli, Silas Baxter-Neal, Julian Stranger, John Cardiel, Tony Trujillo, Frank Gerwer, Jeff Grosso, Peter Hewitt, and Andy Roy.

Atmosphere Sponsor Events Session 1…they’re coming!

Atmosphere Clothing is back this summer with their infamous snake run down the hill in The Concrete Jungle. Both campers and staff compete each session and it is really fun to watch, too! Check back for photos after the event.

New street section at Windells’ Concrete Jungle sneak peek

We like to keep our concrete fresh here at camp and Head Skate Coach Jamie, Billy, Pete, Nick, Jeff, Jasper, and more have been busy this year pouring a huge new street section to add to The Concrete Jungle.  Right before camp the skate coaches painted the park bright red and yellow. Check out these pics to get a sneak peek at the new features. Stay tuned for more photos of the awesome new section. [Read more...]
