The Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships turned “29 again” this winter. Superhumans Elena Hight, Jamie Anderson, and former campers Shaun White and Louie Vito topped the podiums while common folk grazed for free stuff at the sponsor tents. Method Man and Redman played a concert for VIP Open goers and, as always, too much fun was had.

The traditional gift for a thirtieth anniversary is a pearl. Did we send Jeanette to Vermont with pearls in tow? No. She did go with boxes and boxes and boxes of giveaway goods, though! Will a teenage boy hold a Windells tee shirt more dear than the rarest pearl? Absolutely. Will a small child strip down to his underwear and run around the sponsor village for a Windells Rasta hoodie? Willingly!

Jeanette was orchestrating hilarious games all week to win free stuff!

This guy bartered entertainment for goods. He offered to run around in his boxers for a hoodie and, needless to say, he earned it!

Well, another amazing Portland weekend is in the books. This time it was the Forum crew that paid us a visit. With their new movie premiering nationwide, the boys are truly living every day like it is “Vacation.” In the 2011/2012 installment, our friends Austen Sweetin, Cam Pierce, and Stevie Bell travel the world in search of fresh snow, urban playgrounds, and poolside festivities. Grab your Hawaiian shirt and throw on some flip flops for this one, it’s good.

It seemed like every other person in the audience had been an employee or a camper of Windells at one time! It was great to have such a huge presence in the packed house of the Ogden Theatre. The movie played and the building roared. Burton created an experience that left viewers wanting more and more! Every big air was unreal, every song was spot on, and the simplicity of the film was what viewers needed from a Burton production. They nailed it.

It’s safe to say that Standing Sideways will be talked about from coast to coast as the tour rolls on. Hopefully this film didn’t cause too much sick airness, but if so, everyone walked out of the theater with a free copy of the movie packaged in a barf bag for their convenience. How thoughtful Burton.

Vermont is home to the O.G. (Original Gangster) of snowboarding contests. The 29th annual Burton US Open came to a close this week in Stratton, VT after yet another memorable competition series.

Athletes from all over the world were greeted by the rain and slush of an East Coast winter. Sopping wet spectators watched as their favorite competitors and Windells coaches threw down, despite the gloomy conditions. Thanks to all those who came out and showed their support!

Congrats to the overall winners of the series!

It is hard to tell what is going on from this picture – but there he is, smoothing out the dirt.  You can see the flat area where the BAG will live, and then the DROP IN area is the zone up from there, that is partially cleared out!
