The days of summer shred are quickly coming to an end at Windells Camp but the private park continues to be hopping with skiers and snowboarders dialing in their tricks before the finale. Coach Brandon Cocard was with his campers lapping the rope tow to get the full rail session going on and that’s where we found 15 year old David from Lake Placid, NY standing out from the crowd and charging the park.
Camper of the Day: Jon
The funnest place on earth continues to bring out the fun for session 7 with campers hitting the slopes each day and sessioning our private park at Timberline. Snowboard coaches Moss and Droid have the adult campers this session and within their group we found 27 year old Jon from San Francisco who is back at Windells for his 3rd summer.
How many times have you come to Windells Camp?
Jon: This is my 3rd year coming to Windells.
What makes you keep coming back?
Jon: This is the most fun every summer and it fulfills my dire need for shred during the off-season.
Camper of the Day: Madison
It’s hard to believe that summer is winding down for Windells Camp but we’ve already arrived at Session 7 the last ski & snowboard session of summer 2010. The snow conditions have remained great throughout the summer offering up ample park space for the jumps, rails and pipe. Today we found counselor and coach Jesse with his crew of snowboard campers charging down Palmer chairlift. In his group was 16 years old Madison aka Maddie from Vancouver, Washington who stood out from the pack and rode with us for the afternoon to work on her tricks.

Is it your first time at Windells Camp? How do you like it so far?
Madison: Yeah, it’s so much fun. The atmosphere is so much fun, it’s a blast. I love it.

A day of skate with staff
We’re about to begin session 7 at Windells Camp but for the in-between days our staff enjoys getting out, enjoying the sun and having some fun around Oregon. During this in-between many of the staff went rafting or camping but we also had a day of skate for many of the coaches.
The first stop of the day was Ed Benedict skate park in Portland which is a common spot for our skate camp and the perfect warm-up to a day of skate.

Camper of the Day: Lars
Summer has been busy at the Windells skateparks and our skate campers have been fully loving the indoor skate facilities at BOB and the new concrete jungle. Each skate session, the campers get to use the on-campus facilities but also travel to the local skateparks to expand their skills. That’s where we found Lars, a 14 year old skate camper from the Netherlands out here enjoying camp and getting some sick shots in the parks.
Why did you choose to come to skate camp at Windells?
Lars: It looked really fun and I love skating so that’s why I chose Windells skate park.
Camper of the Day: Monica
We’re onto day 4 of session 6 at Windells Camp and the private park continues to be flowing with skiers and snowboarders. We caught up with ski coach Tyler Barnes who introduced us to 17 year old Monica from Jersey who was trying her hand at a whole lot of features today. From rails to boxes, jumps to pipe, Monica was stoked to be skiing in the summer here at Windells Camp.
Camper of the Day: Cody
We’ve been enjoying beautiful warm weather on the mountain at session 6 and our triple jump line in the Windells private park continues to go off each day! We caught up with ski coach Jeff Curry for our latest Camper of the Day and found 17 year New Yorker Cody. Cody skis at Mt Snow, Vermont during the winter and today he stomped an unnatural misty seven first try! His great attitude and ability to keep trying new tricks made him a standout in the jump line at Windells.

Camper of the Day: Elizabeth
We’re only a couple days into session 6 at Windells Camp but all summer long we’ve had a great variety of Campers of the Day from all ability levels around the world. Today we found Elizabeth who at 16 years old she’s traveled out to camp from California to progress her park riding. She’s been on and off the mountain for 4 years but wanting to work on her park skills at camp.
Camper of the Day: Eddie Wall Sr.
We’ve just become session 6 at Windells Camp with stellar snow conditions and new updates for our private terrain park on Timberline. Every year we see return campers who continue to come back summer after summer to push their riding and one of those familiar faces is Eddie Wall Senior. Eddie describes himself as a 18 year old physically and mentally but with a face that looks 60 years old. With a pro snowboarder son Eddie Wall, the Senior version is out there riding and enjoying snowboarding just as much as any other snowboarder on the slopes. Today we watched the Senior shred with his son to enjoy a great day on the mountain.
Camper of the Day: Tatiana
Each session at Windells Camp we get a huge variety of levels of skiers and snowboarders that fit into different groups with coaches to help progress their skills on the mountain. Sometimes we’ll get beginning snowboarders who just want to learn to snowboard and that was the case for 16 year old Tatiana this week.
Tatiana arrived at Windells Camp from Latin America with the goal of learning how to snowboard and had only been on snow once before in her life. With the help of Head Coach Danger Dave, she learned to turn earlier this week and by the end of the week was hitting the beginner park features.
