Windells Camp is rooted in the progression of snow sports. Snowboarding and freeskiing has evolved tremendously in the years since Tim Windell and four time World Champion, Craig Kelly, invited the best riders to Whistler, B.C., for some of the first competitions. The crew brought the sport to new heights. Tim eventually made the move to Mt. Hood, Oregon, where he brought his vision to life: a revolutionary action sports environment that centralizes in athletic development and most importantly, fun!
Over the last 26 years, Windells Camp has assumed a leading role in the transformation of the world’s best snow sport athletes. Many of the today’s top snowboarders and freeskiers, Dew Tour medalists and Olympic athletes, were Windells campers and return in the summers to practice and hang out with campers. Coaching techniques of Windells’ hand-picked, highly qualified staff combine focused riding with all-out fun and positive reinforcement. US Olympic Snowboard Coach, Mike Jankowski, and many well-known coaches have put in their time at Windells. A crew of 300 works to bring the abilities of athletes, young and old, to the next level.
Many major snowboard and ski brands got their start at Windells: Bonfire, Skullcandy, Rome SDS, Grenade, Saga, GoPro, VonZipper and more. Summer at Windells is a hub for popular action sports global media. Windells added freeski to the program in 1998, and hosted the first cash prize freeski event at Mt. Hood Meadows. Legends in the world of skateboarding have skated at Windells. The skateparks on campus are continually evolving and growing to progress the skate movement.
