Windells was lucky enough to be able to be involved with two amazing rail jams put on by Olympic skier Nick Goepper and Olympic snowboarder Louie Vito in the midwest. Both rail jams were really about giving back to their local communities in the midwest, riding at their home resort, and getting skiers and snowboarders together for a good cause!
Former Windells Academy Student, summer camp fixture, and Olympic Skier Nick Goepper has teamed up with his home ski resort, Perfect North Ski Area to bring The Winter Welcome Rail Jam to Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Over 150 competitors and tons of spectators got together for a rail jam full over good times for an even better cause! The Winter Welcome Rail Jam took place on December 26th and raised over $3,000 for The Cure Starts Now Foundation, a non-profit aimed at finding a cure for pediatric brain cancer.
In support of Nick and The Cure Starts Now Foundation, Windells donated two FREE summer sessions to be handed out to the winners of both the Pro Ski and Pro Snowboard portions. Congratulations to Freddy Mazza for placing first in skiing and Johnny Paul for his first place snowboard finish, thank you so much for being involved in such a good cause, and we can’t wait to see you both this summer!
Windells was also invited to be involved in an event in conjunction with Olympic Snowboarder Louie Vito. The Louie Vito Rail jam at Mad River Mountain in Zanesfield, Ohio is unique rail jam created for a great cause. The entry fee is a canned good and all of goods are donated to a local food bank. Louie really like to give back to the local community and to the resort that he grew up at, and what better way to do it than spread the stoke?
With just about 400 participants in Louie Vito Rail Jam festivities, we would love to send a huge shout out to the Grand Prize winner Aaron Trufts. Aaron took home a FREE Summer camp session at Windells, and we look forward to having you!
