Windells Camp 101: Tips, facts, & helpful information for parents

CampfireSmores_Session6Day2
Windells Summer Camp is just around the corner! Now is the time to start thinking about which Summer program works best for you and your camper. Is Overnight or Day Camp the best option for your child? What do you need to know as a parent before sending your child to Windells? Are you curious about Safety and Supervision? Our helpful administrative staff are here to answer any questions you may have regarding the registration process. E-mail us at info@windells.com or call us directly at 800.765.7669.

Is Windells Snowboard, Ski, Skateboard, and BMX Camp designed for all ages?

Yes! Windells Camp has something for campers of all ages. Overnight Camp is available for campers 8 and up. Day Camp is available for kids 4 and up. (Not a kid? Adult Camp starts at 18!) Talk with your kids about their concerns regarding sleeping away from home for eight days. It’s ok to feel a little homesick! Campers adjust quickly and make new friends. Our staff are fully prepared to assist campers feeling anxious or nervous. Cell phones are allowed and campers are encouraged to touch base with mom or dad often.

Great! What about all ability levels?

We ask that parents and campers accurately denote their camper’s ability level prior to arriving for their session. It’s easy! Take a look at the Coaching & Skill Levels pages and see where your camper fits. This helps us assign coaching groups to make sure everyone has the best time and can make the most progress during their Session at Windells!

Where does my camper fly in? Is there transportation to and from the airport?

Campers arriving by air must fly in to Portland International Airport. Flights should arrive between 8am and 4pm on Arrival Day (first day of each session), and depart between 8am and 4pm on Departure Day (last day of each session). Windells Camp shuttles pick up and drop off campers to and from the airport. Windells staff members escort Unaccompanied Minors directly to their gates. Are you dropping off your child? Great! Campers arriving by car are welcome after 21 noon on Arrival Day.

What if my child is injured before or during his or her Session?

In your Camper Packet, you will receive information on TravMark Insurance. We recommend purchasing at least minimal coverage through TravMark. Without purchasing insurance, we cannot offer refunds on travel or session tuition. Deposits on your campers session are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Which Session is the best?

A handful of factors play a part in choosing which Session is best for your camper. Team Takeover Sessions for Summer 2013 are being announced very soon. Summer months are sunny and beautiful in the Northwest, perfect for skateboarding and being outdoors. We ride natural snow June, July, and August. As the summer presses on, snow does start to melt but our Private Park stays maintained and groomed for excellent summer riding!

Can my son or daughter bunk with a friend? What about coaching groups?

If campers are arriving with friends, we will meet roommate requests as long as they are in the same age range! Boys and girls are bunked separately. We will meet coaching requests as long as campers are the same ability level and the same sport.

If my camper is coming to Snowboard or Ski Camp, can they skateboard as well?

Of course! Snowboard and Ski campers are welcome to skateboard on campus all evening. Windells skate coaches and staff hold skate clinics for all campers throughout the session.
