Jack Roof, 17, of Westport, Connecticut, is almost through with his first ever summer at Windells Skate Camp. He’s made quite the impression on his skate coaches. I received files in my inbox after Jack’s first day with his coaches with the words, “Here are photos of this session’s Camper of the Day.” Well, that settles that. Meet Jack Roof, Session 6′s certified COTD.
Jack was urged to come to camp by none other than his mother. (Props, mom!) Mama Roof said “Jack, you can’t just sit around and be a bum this summer.” He had the right idea when he decided that his ticket out of boredom would be a trip to the West Coast for a fun filled session at Windells. He’s been lucky enough to skate with Jamie Weller, the mastermind behind the mecca that is the Concrete Jungle.
Jack started skating after he’d seen videos of what he would soon become, and started skating every day when he was in 3rd of 4th grade. He skates with friends at home in Connecticut, and they travel to the better skate parks in the state. His favorite part of the concrete on campus is just that; the whole thing. His favorite skate park the campers visited this week is Hood River. Jack focused on improving his airs this session, and he feels he’s improved a lot in just 4 days of working with Jamie. His overall attitude, positivity and perseverance bagged Jack his spot in the limelight this session.
Jack would like to give a shout out to Chuck. Hey, Chuck!
