Chris Hagerty came all the way to Hood, via Colorado, to start of his summer shred with this back five stale.
Summer has officially begun at Mount Hood. The jumps are salted, the towropes are turning, and campers are strapping in and learning new tricks. Session 1 just wrapped at Windells and it was a seriously sick start to the season. The mountain is completely white, with over 100 inches of snow more than usual, and the Windells Diggers have crafted one of their best parks ever: two separate jib areas and all of the jumps, hips, and quarters that your summer-shredding heart could desire. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a camper here at Windells? Every once in a while we will be featuring one camper that stands out at Windells. This camper is someone who has a good attitude and an all around good time at camp. This session skate camper Sebastian Gaddis was the lucky camper. He was here for session one and two, and you could tell he had a blast and always had a positive attitude. To help everyone get to know Sebastian a little better we pulled him aside, and asked him a couple questions.

Willis Kimble (right) on the Bonfire Pipe 2 Pipe skate podium. 2010.
If you spend any time in the Concrete Jungle at Windells, you’re bound to see a tall, lanky guy in a Jivaro hat cruising high-speed around the park, following lines you hadn’t even noticed, doing tricks you hadn’t even thought of. That guy, who regularly tears apart the concrete at camp, is Creature Skateboards’ Willis Kimble, a Portland-local whose fluid and technical skating has been causing double-takes at camp over the last few years.
Willis was just featured on ESPN.com’s Amateur Hour, where he explained why he prefers to live and skate in Portland instead down in SoCal, and gives one of his favorite skateparks in Oregon (thanks Jamie and crew!) some love. Check it out here.

Summer 2011 has officially begun and Session 1 is in the books! Mother Nature has been generous this winter and we’ve got more snow than we know what to do with. Combine that with around a dozen new features and you’ve got an amazing place to ride!
Yobeat dropped in on session one and brought the likes of Forest Bailey, Will Bateman, Nial Romanek, and Johnny Lazz to rip it up! Enjoy the snowboard edit!
On the ski side of things, we have some awesome coaches out here, and some hot camper action session 1. They wasted no time throwing down!
The LIFEBLOOD team rolled through campus and skated for a couple days in the Concrete Jungle. Check out the video!
The skate campers had a good time visiting some of Oregon’s awesome parks, and of course, also ripped up our private park as well.
Forrest Bailey, Nial Romanek, and Will Bateman take a lap from Palmer, through Windells, through Public park and to the Mile lift. It’s over 2 miles!!! That is pretty darn good for summer shredding!

Johnny Lazz is one of the funnest people to have at camp and lucky for Session 1 campers, he was hosting the entire week! Since Lazz has been at Windells for years, he is pretty good at coming up with crazy activities for the campers to do. During Session 1, Lazz and Arnette presented “Johnny’s Mystery Drink”. Doesn’t it look delicious? Continue reading →
