Goepper Wins Dumont Cup!!

According to the Chinese calender 2011 is the year of the rabbit. According to the 2011 ski event calender this is the year for the “Guppy”. Windells Academy student, Nick Goepper doesn’t skip a beat and walks away with 1st place and $12, ooo at this year’s Dumont Cup.

From the West coast to the East coast, Europe and back, Goepper has been traveling and competing with the industry’s top free skiers throughout the 2011 season. You’ve seen him place in competitions including the Dew Tour and North Face Open series, get invites to world renown events including the US and European X Games and now finish first at the Dumont Cup held at Sunday River, Maine. Despite many miles on the road and jet lag Goepper has got what it takes to stay on top. When asked about his 2011 season Goepper shares, “I worked hard to get to where I am and I’m stoked it has paid off. I’m looking forward to continue doing the same thing in the future”.

At Windells Academy we have watched Nick progress and become a top athlete right before our eyes. Coaches, fellow students and staff members couldn’t be happier for Nick and his accomplishments. Friend and Windells Academy student, Cristian Santini gives Goepper a shout out, “I’m stoked for Nick to have come such a long way and he kills it wherever he goes! I’m excited to see what the future has in store for him.” Congratulations, Nick!

Burton US Open 2011

Vermont is home to the O.G. (Original Gangster) of snowboarding contests. The 29th annual Burton US Open came to a close this week in Stratton, VT after yet another memorable competition series.

Athletes from all over the world were greeted by the rain and slush of an East Coast winter. Sopping wet spectators watched as their favorite competitors and Windells coaches threw down, despite the gloomy conditions. Thanks to all those who came out and showed their support!

Nick Goepper Euro X!

Rising star and Windells Academy student Nick Goepper is flying over the pond today to compete in the European X Games. “Guppy,” as he is known to his friends and family, is a rookie to the scene but has been making a lot of noise since his arrival. Taking home 3rd place at Killington’s Dew Tour stop and the North Face Open, Goepper has absolutely begun to make a name for himself. The small town native is practicing hard and gearing up for a tough competition. Go big Nick! Everyone from Windells is cheering for you!

US Grand Prix Wrap Up


The 15th Annual US Snowboarding Grand Prix, sponsored by Sprint and Paul Mitchell, came to a close this weekend in Mammoth. The final stop on the tour did not disappoint, and Windells was there to join in on the fun. The pipe was perfectly cut, the sun was shining and the jumps were monstrous. Mammoth Mountain set the scene for an epic competition.

Windells Academy Flaunts It

Six ladies from Windells Academy packed up and made the trip to B.C Canada for the 4th stop of Billabong’s Flaunt It tour held at Mount Seymour. After traveling 7 hours with a packed van of boards, bags and pop tarts it was time to get in with the ladies in B.C and flaunt it. Words by WA student: Nicole McNulty.

The morning of the event we rallied up to Seymour from downtown Vancouver and made it just in time to meet everyone and register. After making our way to the course and discovering foggy conditions, the schedule was switched up. Bones Teaser

If you haven’t seen the Bones teaser I suggest you take a look, its definitely worth the watch. These guys were at camp last fall and there’s a shot in the new cement in the park at the end of the teaser! Enjoy.

wRECklESS Rail Jam

The 2nd Annual wRECklESS Rail Jam is back at Appalachian Ski Mountain. This year Windells Head Digger Keaton Pearson and Assistant Head Digger Chase Weaver along with Recess Rideshop and Appalachian Ski Mountains Terrain Park crew has Designed an amazing course with unique features and setups. This is one of the few Cash prize events in the southeast and is proud to have Windells support. Our goal with this event is to push progression and the radness of shredding, which is exactly what Windells does for snowboarding and skiing with year round riding and coaching with phenomenal setups.
