Windells Academy gets ADAPT Training
The body is the most important piece of equipment for professional athletes. Action sports are a great way to keep the body healthy but training on and off hill is crucial for riders to reach their fullest potential. With competition season just around the corner, Windells Academy students are working hard and getting the high end training they need with ADAPT training.
Athletic training begins with the individual; the individual’s athletic goals, history and capabilities. The ADAPT system provides a routine that is designed for individual athletes and their sports. “These kids are participating in a sport that involves explosive movements. Each student is going to receive a program that will target their specific needs and obtain the balance and durability necessary to perform well in these sports,” says Brian Cassidy, ADAPT founder.
Each student was given an evaluation that consisted of exorcises and an analysis of athletic history, including injuries. The ADAPT model focuses on four reference points, the shoulders, hips, knees and ankles which allow the body to stay aligned and distribute weight throughout the body evenly. Student evaluations were an opportunity to monitor the flexibility and range of motion for muscles and joints. “ The more efficient your muscles are the more your joints are” suggested Cassidy. With the results of the evaluations ADAPT created customized booklets for each student.
Windells Academy students are well on their way to becoming professional athletes. With world class training facilites here at Windells camp, high end coaching and now the ADAPT program students have every tool imaginable to perfect their skills and perform at their absolute best this competition season. “Our students are working really hard both on and off hill” commented Miah Wheeler, vice president and snowboard coach of Windells Academy. “ This is going to be an exciting season for Windells Academy”.
