School is now in session

Timberline is closed to the public for a couple of weeks, but Windells Academy students still have access to a private park so they can ski and ride.

It’s officially the fall season and students are returning to the classrooms and talks of the upcoming winter season begin to fill the hallways. But, while most students are merely day dreaming about opening day at their local mountains, those attending Windells Academy have already begun to ride Mount Hood during their first week of classes.

The students have begun to settle into their “home away from home” with the help of their teachers, coaches and staff members here at Windells Academy. The first week has proven to be exciting for everyone and the students were eager to share their experiences thus far. Diva Helmy, a senior from Marin County, CA gives us a look into how academy life has been treating her so far and what she has planned for the year to come. Continue reading →

Game of Shred feat. LNP & J Lazz

The October addition of Transworld Snowboarding is out….and features a two page spread of LNP and Johnny Lazz in the Game of Shred at Windells, Presented by Rome SDS.  The action can be found online but what is extra unique about this advertisment, is that Tech Savy Rome used the new state of the art system: ScanLife.

In short, Scanlife provides companies with unique 2D barcodse to place in an ad, the code can be linked to any site on the WEB. In this case, Rome linked the Game of Shred Video to the 2D Code. The Bar Code can be scanned using a smart phone; apps are available for all major smart phones. Once you download the app, you simply hover the phone over the code and ScanLife does the rest!  If you haven’t noticed, a bunch of industry companies have been using this technology – so get with the times and check it out.

Bones Wheels

We heard Bones Wheel’s Crew were cruising around the North West shooting film and photos.   We thought it would be a good idea to invite them to Windells Campus SkatePark, 55,000 square feet of skate-able terrain, indoor & outdoor.  Bones accepted the invitation and the result, a number of phenomenal & known skateboarders took advantage of Windells park and hospitality.  Hours of Skating followed up by some Pool, Burgers and A Sodas.  Another good day at Windells, good thing we do not tear down campus each and every summer.  Listed below are the guys that swung by with a few pictures of the action.

Steve Stepp Summer Edits

Nearing the end of his second consecutive summer coaching at Windells, Stepp unfortunately broke his leg.  Everyone knows that injury comes with the sport, especially at the level the Steve is at.  Fortunately for all of you, he was able to stack a bunch of footy to bring you two separate edits.  Check them out!
