It’s hard to believe that summer is winding down for Windells Camp but we’ve already arrived at Session 7 the last ski & snowboard session of summer 2010. The snow conditions have remained great throughout the summer offering up ample park space for the jumps, rails and pipe. Today we found counselor and coach Jesse with his crew of snowboard campers charging down Palmer chairlift. In his group was 16 years old Madison aka Maddie from Vancouver, Washington who stood out from the pack and rode with us for the afternoon to work on her tricks.

Session 5 Skate Cmapers got the pleasure of seeing one of the heaviest demos of the year. The RVCA team was in town, so we headed over to the Tualatin skatepark to see pros like Leo Romero, James Hardy, Nestor Judkins, Corey Kennedy, David Reyes, and Julian Davidson. The guys at Atmosphere do an awesome job of hooking campers up every session with fun activities and rad Atmosphere clothing. During Session 6, they not only held an event on hill, like they do each session, they also met up with the skate campers and hung out, skated and bbq’d.

The Atmopshere Snake Race is the fastest sponsor night at camp each week, as campers and staff race down the hill by BOB, around cones through the Concrete Jungle. If you're not ready to attack it on your skateboard, it's great for spectating, too.

We’re about to begin session 7 at Windells Camp but for the in-between days our staff enjoys getting out, enjoying the sun and having some fun around Oregon. During this in-between many of the staff went rafting or camping but we also had a day of skate for many of the coaches.
The first stop of the day was Ed Benedict skate park in Portland which is a common spot for our skate camp and the perfect warm-up to a day of skate.
Summer has been busy at the Windells skateparks and our skate campers have been fully loving the indoor skate facilities at BOB and the new concrete jungle. Each skate session, the campers get to use the on-campus facilities but also travel to the local skateparks to expand their skills. That’s where we found Lars, a 14 year old skate camper from the Netherlands out here enjoying camp and getting some sick shots in the parks.
Why did you choose to come to skate camp at Windells?
Lars: It looked really fun and I love skating so that’s why I chose Windells skate park.
