Check out the snowboard video from Session 5 here at Windells Camp. You can’t even imagine how much fun we’re having out here at Hood…
We’re onto day 4 of session 6 at Windells Camp and the private park continues to be flowing with skiers and snowboarders. We caught up with ski coach Tyler Barnes who introduced us to 17 year old Monica from Jersey who was trying her hand at a whole lot of features today. From rails to boxes, jumps to pipe, Monica was stoked to be skiing in the summer here at Windells Camp.

The weather has been super nice here in Welches, and the skate park has been poppin’ off. Our boy Sheetz made this edit of what’s been going on the first couple of days on campus. It’s Surface skis week here, and you can see Surface pro Banks Gilberti opening this one up. GNU‘s Forest Bailey has a few hammers up in there as well. Windells employees can be seen throughout the edit. Just wait to see what happens for the end of the week…
We’ve been enjoying beautiful warm weather on the mountain at session 6 and our triple jump line in the Windells private park continues to go off each day! We caught up with ski coach Jeff Curry for our latest Camper of the Day and found 17 year New Yorker Cody. Cody skis at Mt Snow, Vermont during the winter and today he stomped an unnatural misty seven first try! His great attitude and ability to keep trying new tricks made him a standout in the jump line at Windells.

On Saturday, July 28th, 2010, WIndells would like to welcome the Shrunken Head Skateboard Shop and Jivaro Wheels teams to campus. With deep roots within the Portland skateboard scene, Shrunken Head and Jivaro noted for their support of the skateboard community throughout the Northwest. Stay tuned for a photo and video update of Shrunken Head and Jivaro team rider, and Windells Head Skate Coach Jamie Weller and crew shortly after.

Windells Academy is proud to announce Miah Wheeler as the new snowboard director and head coach of Windells Academy. “We are excited to have someone who brings such a variety of strengths to the table at Windells Academy. With almost a decade of coaching experience, Miah is going to be a vital asset to our team,” asserts camp owner and industry veteran, Tim Windell.
Wheeler comes to Windells Academy from Aspen, Colorado where he served for 9 years with the Aspen Valley Snowboard Club as the program director and head coach. He has been heavily involved with United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA), serving on the executive board as the coaches representative, running the Aspen/Snowmass Series, developing the coaches education program and serving as the head coach for the PacSun/USASA team.
President of Windells Academy, Mike Hanley explains, “if we see the growth in the academy that Miah has demonstrated in his previous endeavors, we are well on track to be the largest action sports academy the world.”
Wheeler is excited for the opportunity. “I’m stoked to bring my experience to the world class facilities that Windells has to offer. Where else can you snowboard/skateboard/surf 365 days a year, as well as take advantage of a holistic education that encompasses mind and body. Having exclusive access to airbags, Olympic flybed trampolines, a foampit, and one of the best skateparks in the world is only going to fire the progression of up and coming rippers.”
