If you haven’t heard yet, summer is officially here and Windells is pulling out all the stops in preparation for the first session on June 6th. Here at camp, it’s really fun to ride with the boys, but we also understands that hanging out with a group of ladies can be super fun as well. With this in mind, Windells offers a myriad of girls-specific activities, so you can maximize your fun during your stay at the funnest place on Earth!
Tons of the best female professional snowboarders have spent time at Windells, as both campers and coaches. Gretchen Bleiler, Kelly Clark, Hannah Teter, Molly Aguirre, Tara Dakides, Clair Bidez, Alexis Waite, Hana Beaman…the list goes on and on of women who have benefited from sessions at Windells, gaining confidence and skills on the mountain as well as having fun and making friends back at camp.
On hill, you can ride and ski with both guys and girls, or if you’d prefer a lady-only group (girl shredding can be awesome!), you can sign up for that and get your shred on with like-minded females. It’s good to have choices and Windells makes sure your covered however you’re most comfortable.
After you come down from the hill, there are tons of activities at camp to take part in. All of them are open to you, but in addition what the guys are doing, there’s girls-only things to do, too! Traditional camp activities like arts and crafts, volleyball and dodgeball run every afternoon. You can also drop in on yoga classes led by Senior Counselor Keri, go thrifting at shops in Portland, learn to knit your own signature beanies, or make t-shirts with Betty Rides.
Want to brush up on your skating? You can thrash the bowls in BOB or fine tune your skills on the new cement set up in the middle of campus with the ladies’ progression skate clinics that are held every day, with levels for beginners all the way up to experienced skaters. If you have never skated or bmx’d before, but you want to learn, Windells has got you covered, too. The Demo Lab has a bunch of bikes and skateboards you can use to learn how to push around, drop in and land your first ollie or bunny hop.
The Demo Lab also has a ton of next season’s snowboards, boots, bindings and skis to try out that are women-specific. There’s brand new gear from companies like Rome, Salomon, Ride and Burton and with the help of the Demo staff you can try out tons of gear to fit your every need, from riding rails to getting out of the pipe. There’s women’s reverse camber boards this year, too!
After a long day of shredding at the mountain, making tshirts, playing dodgeball and skating around campus, relaxation is key. Lodging is totally girl-friendly with female counselors and all-girl cabins sponsored by brands like Betty Rides.
Windells really is the funnest place on Earth and everyone here is committed to making sure your time at camp is the best part of your summer. The sun’s out, the snow is soft and everyone is stoked—get out here!! Click here for session dates and prices.
