Camper Alex Midler the TV Star

Alex Midler, 11 years old and a very talented skater from So Cal, spent a session at Windells this past Summer as a snowboard camper but the talk of the camp were his skills on a skateboard.  Midler just happened to take first at the Windells Stop of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour landing him a spot at the Salt Lake City X Games Stop.  Another round of Big News for Alex, he grabbed himself a TV appearance on Fuel TV’s new show New Pollution.

Windells Academy spends time off at B.O.B

At Windells Academy, the students are allowed to use all facilities in their free time. Instead of taking recess or an “off campus” lunch break like most highschools, the students of Windells Academy take their break at B.O.B!  The facilities at Windells are available any time the students would like to use them, and improve their skate, rollerblade, bike, or trampoline skills. Sometimes we even take out the wiggle stick!

Windells Academy spent the afternoon at the rose garden

Here at Windells Academy, every Wednesday,  and on some weekends we take an amazing field trip. Sometimes they are educational and sometimes they have to do with the snowboard industry. So far, (as you have seen in the blogs) we have taken trips to visit Atmosphere clothing, Bonfire snowboards, Solomon snowboards, K2, Line skies, and Ride snowboards. We have also gone to the Lewis and Clark trail, the fish hatchery, a couple different museums, Seattlle fish market, the alpine slides and adventure park at ski bowl, and an amazing surf trip on the Oregon coast. This Wednesday we headed into Portland to see the beautiful rose gardens. Check it out!

Windells Academy takes a trip to K2/Line/Ride!!!!

Over the past weekend, the students of Windells Academy took a trip up to Seattle. While in Seattle, we stopped by the K2, Line skies, and Ride snowboards headquarters. The students met everyone on board at the warehouse and learned a lot. Everything from pressing snowboards and skies, creating new designs, and what sets K2 apart from the average ski/snowboard company. We also got to hang out while a couple of the team riders had a session at the indoor skate park. Even K2 team rider Michelle Parker was nice enough to stop by and say hello to everyone! Check it out!

This week on Tuesday, students of Windells Academy woke up to feel quite a change in the air temperature. Everyone checked the weather, looked at the timberline snowfall report, all sources showed no snowfall. Still, they headed up to the mountain with hopes to see white.  The results were very pleasing. SNOW IS HERE!  And there is more coming! stay posted.
